How we’re different

Carinity Education – Southside is an independent all-girls secondary school for students studying from Grade 7 to Grade 12 in the Brisbane suburb of Sunnybank. Our aim is to remove the barriers to education and to nurture the intellectual, physical, social, emotional and ethical development of young women.

In addition to the low ratio of students to teachers, one of the main differences between our school and traditional schools is the extra support available to students. Each Grade has a youth worker available for additional assistance in and out of the classroom. Our school curriculum is designed specifically to help young women deal with situations that would hold them back in other educational environments. Lunch is provided to the students daily and a free crèche is available for young mothers so they can continue their education while their children are well cared for.

The mentoring activities allow us to build positive relationships in an informal ‘family-like’ environment. We encourage students to pursue their dreams and ensure that they have the skills required to get a job or pursue further training and/or higher education options, by the time they leave Year 12. Offering a range of disciplines as well as life skills and workplace experience, we equip girls to go out into the world and make their own choices.

We aim to create a warm and supportive environment where our students, their families and carers, Elders and our staff always feel welcome. Christian values are at the core of everything we do, as we strive to create a community where people are loved, accepted and supported to reach their full potential.QLD Government Logo
