On Friday, 15th September we celebrated the 20 Year Anniversary of the school, as well as the last day of Term Three, by hosting a reunion for all past students and staff members.
Everyone met up at the school in the morning before making our way down to the Sunnybank Lions Hall where we heard speeches given by past staff members and past students about how the school positively impacted on their lives and how their time at Southside continues to remain a positive influence and memory for them.
After the speeches we watched a DVD created by our talented Art Teacher, Bec. The DVD showcased all of the years at Southside and how things have changed throughout them.
After everyone had viewed the DVD, we all made our way back up to the school for an incredible lunch, prepared by our awesome Riki, as well as some performances and
activities. There was a children’s area set up by the Crèche where all the babies could go to paint or play games, we had a photo booth set up with props for a bit of fun and many stalls around the school that had been set up by students to sell their arts and crafts or baked goods.
The past Ginibi dancers along with some of the current students got up and performed Gari Gynda Narmi much to the delight of everyone in attendance.
A huge and genuine thank you goes out to every staff member and student, past and present, who attended the celebration and contributed to making it such a special and memorable day for all of us.
